Steaming Winter Shore with a Grazing Bison
3840 × 2476 px DesktopPhone4KUltrawide Added 9 downloads
A single bison grazes on a strip of dry, golden grass along the edge of a dark pool, its head lowered and its shaggy brown coat catching the light. Mist rises from the water and drifts across the middle of the frame, softening the snowy bank behind and the evergreen forest at the top. In the foreground, a smooth drift of white snow sweeps across the bottom right corner. A second bison is visible as a faint shape in the haze, and another stands far off on the left.
Bison are well adapted to cold. Their thick coats and heavy heads, which they swing like plows, let them uncover grass beneath the snow. In Yellowstone, thermal ground often stays free of snow, so winter grazing can be easier near hot springs. The park's thermal features give off steam even in freezing air, which is why mist like this hangs over the water. The wide landscape format and the open space on the left suit desktop monitors and ultrawide screens, where icons can sit over the calm, dark water.
